A great war-date Confederate manufacture CDV, on glazed paper mount, of Confederate General Earl Van Dorn (1820-1863) who first served the Confederacy in Texas in 1861, was defeated at the battle of Elkhorn Tavern (Pea Ridge) and was eventually killed by an enraged husband who accused him of intimate encounters with his wife. Van Dorn appears in bust view wearing his regulation general's uniform. No backmark with clipped corners and slight bumping, else VG
