A crisp war-date CDV of Union Commander Edward Ferrero (1831-1899) as colonel of the 51st New York Vols, a unit he commanded during Burnside's North Carolina Expedition. Afterwards he commanded forces at Antietam, Fredericksburg and Knoxville. At the battle of the Crater, he remained behind Union lines drinking while his command was slaughtered by pugnacious Confederate forces. Published by J. Gurney & Son, NYC. Fine condition.
