JOHNSON, Bradley Tyler (1829-1903) was an American lawyer, soldier, and writer. Although his home state of Maryland remained loyal to the Union during the American Civil War, Johnson served as a general in the Confederate States Army, leading efforts to raise a Maryland Line in the CSA, and rising to command the 1st Maryland Infantry, CSA. Excellent cabinet card photograph of General Johnson in uniform signed “Bradley T. Johnson Brig Genl Comdg Johnson’s Cavalry Brigade A.N.V.” and noted by him on verso “This is too atrocious & ferocious a picture to be perpetuated & I will send you a decent one as soon as I can. I was in all the Battles in Virginia 1861-1865...In Jackson’s Valley Campaign ‘62. Seven Days Battles June & July 62 Early’s Campaign in the Valley 1864.” Very good condition.
