Excellent original and authentic US 4.52” 12 pound spherical shell, missing fuse, recovered at Oak Ridge, the woods behind Peace Light Memorial, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in 1982. With letter of authenticity. Fine condition. Oak Ridge, a northward extension of both McPherson Ridge and Seminary Ridge, is capped by Oak Hill, a site for artillery that commanded a good area north of the town. It was admirably held by several units against the advancing Confederate forces under General Rodes on the 1st day of Gettysburg.
