Pamphlet, "Our National Unity Perfected in the Martyrdom of our President." By Rev. A.G. Thomas, 16pp. 1865, with original wrap and fancy font cover, printed by Smith, English & Co. of Philadelphia. Delivered April 19th in the General Hospital in Washington, it reads in part: "…O, countrymen, it is not unmanly to weep for the mighty dead! But let us hasten to brush the tear from the eye, and gird ourselves to a higher manhood for the responsibilities of the hour. Every vestige of the rebellion must be crushed; its leaders must pay the penalty of their crimes; our government must be restored in it integrity. Fall in - dress up - join the grand march of Providence - our God is marching on…" Fine.
