Unusual Abraham Lincoln relics with provenance from H.W. Fay Custodian of Lincoln’s Tomb at Springfield, Illinois, and attached to his embossed lettersheet. Inscribed to George L. Quackenbush, at Lincoln’s Tomb, March 21, 1933, with 2-1/4” piece of wood with ink notation “accompany a piece of wood from Lincoln’s Springfield home H.W. Fay” and on following page ‘oak leaf from tree at Lincolns Tomb.” Herbert Wells Fay , the long-time custodian at the Lincoln Tomb and famous Lincoln collector, loved to share his passion with visitors personally creating relic touchstones to the great man.
