Autograph Letter Signed by Dederick Heydorn, 2pp. quarto, Christiania, December 19, 1809, with integral leaf addressed to Messes’ Pratt & Kinszing, discussing an American merchant ship seized by privateers and held in Norwegian ports pending the outcome of their trials for attempting to breach French and British blockades. In part: “...The fate of the Atlantic remains undecided - The commerce is put off until the 8 January. Yesterday the Ship Jane...and the Bark Pacific...were condemned by the High Court of Admirality here. What the prospect of the American Property is in this country is I’ll leave to your own consideration...the two mentioned condemned American vessels and cargoes is real and bonafied American Property and they came direct from America...From this court of Admirality there is no appeal...” Very good.
