KAHN, Julius (1861-1924)Born in Germany, settled with his family in California in 1866, admitted to the bar in January 1894 he then practiced in San Francisco before being elected as a Republican representative in the Fifty-sixth and Fifty-seventh Congresses and again in the Fifty-ninth to Sixty-eight Congresses. He served on the Committee on Military Affairs during the last three of these Congresses. Grouping includes five (5) Typed Letters Signed "Julius Kahn" as a Representative from California, 1910, to Walter Thorn, who was awarded the Medal of Honor while with the 116th United States Colored Troops while at Dutch Gap during the Civil War, pertaining to a bill Thorn, who was Chairman of the Medal of Honor Legislative Committee, has before Congress. With additional letters by Iowa Representative John A. T. Hull to Thorn referencing Kahn, and by Ohio Representative William G. Sharp. Also includes two retained letters by Thorn, one being on fine Medal of Honor letterhead and a printed letter by Thorn to the members of the Medal of Honor Committee. All VG to Fine.
