WILSON, Woodrow (1856 - 1924) Twenty-eighth President of the United States who passed sweeping reform laws, gave women the right to vote, and led the United States through World War I setting the ground work for the League of Nations. Typed Letter Signed as President, “Woodrow Wilson” on White House stationary, 1pp., May 29, 1917, trim removes recipients’ name. In full, “My dear Judge: When I received your letter of the twenty-first, I took this matter up with the Secretary of War. I now take pleasure in sending you a copy of his reply, which I am sure you will find conceived in the frankness which always characterizes the Secretary. In haste, Cordially and faithfully yours.” Slight staining at right, else VG.
