HARDING, Warren G. (1865-1923). 29th President of the United States. Harding, a former publisher, was a staunch defender of the status quo, particularly when it came to leaving big business alone. Typed Letter Signed “Warren Harding” as President on White House stationary, December 30, 1922, 1pp, to John A. Stewart. In large part, “I am glad you were able to secure the interview you desired and pleased that its nature was so satisfying. I can see you, and will be glad to do so, at practically any time you elect to come to Washington. ...” Fine (sealed which can be opened). John Aikman Stewart was a New York City banker, who during the presidency of Grover Cleveland, replenished the nation's gold supply by organizing a syndicate that bought $50,000,000 in bonds.
