The Printing Plate depicts three separate engraved images; "Stephen A. Douglas, the 'lil giant," (in debate stance) … plus, "A poster for Uncle Tom's Cabin," (the dogs hunting down Tom) … plus, "Smuggling slaves to freedom via the Underground Railroad (image is similar to Henry "Box" Brown who "mailed" himself to freedom, traveling to Philadelphia in a wooden crate disguised as "cargo."). O/A metal plate 6" x 9," circa 1860, fine.
