Marshall was confirmed by a Senate vote of 69-11 on August 30, 1967. ...plus, Time Magazine, September 19, 19955 with Marshall on cover and associated story regarding school integration. Thurgood Marshall (1908-1993) was an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, serving from October 1967 until October 1991. Marshall was the Court's 96th justice and its first African-American justice.
