Autograph Letter Signed, "Jno. N. Richardson" 4pp. octavo, Raleigh, North Carolina, October 28, 1867, with nice cover bearing a Raleigh cds, addressed to a woman at Charlotte Court House in Virginia, and reads in part: "...I am sorry to see that the old State has gone for the Radical party & the Negro. How is it in Charlotte. I hope it did not go that way, please write me all about it. There is no telling what will take place next. While the Yankees are against the negroes our men whites, are trying every thing they [can] to excite them. I hope you have no fights & mobs in old Charlotte. Our election wont come off for a few months yet & I would not care if it never did come off..." Also mention of the Presbyterians meeting at Chapel Hill. VG.
