War-date Confederate Naval Autograph Letter Signed by George Williamson, AA General, 1pp. quarto, Head Quarters 1st Division, Western Department, Columbus, Kentucky, February 28, 1862, addressed to the Commanding Officer of Island No. 10 and reads "I am instructed by the Major Genl. Commanding to say that he wishes you to send up to him as soon as you can the John Simonds, Vicksburg & Admiral...." Good condition. The three Confederate gunboats did not survive the war, the John Simonds was sunk following the battle at Island #10 in September 1862, the Vicksburg was knocked useless by the USS Queen of the West and later burned, the Admiral was captured by Admiral Foote and used by the Union forces.
