War-date Confederate Autograph Letter Signed 3pp. octavo, Lee County, Georgia, May 22, 1862, to Emma Elbridge, wife of Confederate Surgeon Erwin Elbridge, and reads in part: "...I am glad Mrs. Crawford has her husband at home, once more, and hope he will soon be entirely well again....I do not think it will be prudent, for you to go to Americus now, while there is so much sickness there; particularly scarlet fever...I hope the Dr. will be able to come home next month, things may change a great deal by that time who knows...I received a letter from Mother...She speaks of spending this summer in Charleston, but I hope not, for the Yellow fever will be sure to break out there...This war will settle me down a great deal. If it was over I believe I would be so very wild with joy. I would act foolishly..." Very good condition. $100-$200
