War-date Confederate Document Signed by Captain and Military store keeper Jonathan A. Ansley, 1pp. octavo, on preprinted form dated July 23, 1863, shipping to General Nathan Bedford Forrest a "saddle" via the Southern Express Company. With official quartermaster departments stamp. Very good condition. On June 14, 1863, General Nathan Bedford Forrest was shot by a disgruntled subordinate, Andrew W. Gould, whom Forrest then mortally wounded with his penknife. Recovering, he commanded a division that summer and then a corps at Chickamauga.
