TAYLOR, Walter Herron (1838-1916) was an American banker, lawyer, soldier, politician, author, and railroad executive from Norfolk, Virginia. During the American Civil War, he was an officer in the Confederate States Army, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel as an aide to General Robert E. Lee. He was later a Senator in the Virginia General Assembly, and attorney for the Norfolk and Western Railway and later the Virginian Railway. War-date Confederate Document Signed by Walter H. Taylor, as Assistant Adjutant General in the Department of Northern Virginia, 1pp. quarto, October 20, 1863, being Special Order No. 258 sent to JEB Stuart, transferring Private Henry Clay McLaurine from the 4th Virginia Cavalry to the "Powhatan Artillery". With endorsement on verso signed by Brigadier general LUNSFORD LINDSAY LOMAX (1835-1913). Near fine condition.
