War-date Confederate soldier's Autograph Letter Signed by D.P. Thomas, Lieutenant, 24th Tennessee Sharpshooters Battalion, 1pp. quarto, U.S. Military Prison, Fort Delaware, Delaware, September 21, 1864, with cover addressed to Eldr. E. Rittenhouse in New Castle County, marked "PRISONER'S LETTER" it reads in part: "...I have been a prisoner so long I have not forgotten when my dependence is and this growth in the Grace and knowledge in the Truth that we hear so much about is in my judgment only when we can get to see ourselves most clear and see our nothingness and the perfection of God. I think My Brother that this prison to be closely demonstrated the Idea that we can do nothing within our selves..." Fine condition.
