War-date Confederate soldier's Autograph Letter Signed, "J.J. Bruce" 4pp. octavo & quarto, pencil, March 24, 1864, and reads in part: "...you know Mary died March the 15 Tuesday morning about four o'clock in the morning and ...the children was taken down with the measles but are all getting along very well...I am staying at he hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Times is a very hard and it is bad. People make bad times...Dr. L.J. Luse will take the children but it goes very hard with me..." Good condition.
