War-date Confederate imprint, "A Bill To be entitled 'An act to make additional appropriations for the support of the Government of the Confederate States of America, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1864." providing a detailed budget for the various functions of government, including: "...For compensation of the President of the Confederate States, twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500)....For engraving and printing treasury notes, bonds and certificates for stocks, and for paper for the same, eight hundred thousand dollars ($800,000)...To defray expenses incurred in the safe keeping and transportation of coin belonging to the New Orleans banks, five hundred and fifty-nine dollars, ($559)...For the sustenance of prisoners of war, under act No. 181, section 1, and the hire of the necessary prisons, quarters, & c., for the safe keeping of the same, or so much thereof as may be necessary, one million dollars ($1,000,000)...For the construction of sub-marine batteries, one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000)...For the construction of four steam cruisers of the class of the 'Alabama' and 'Florida' in the Confederate States, two million five hundred thousand dollars, ($2,500,000)...For amount required to comply with treaty stipulations, entered into between the Confederate States and certain Indian tribes, one hundred and eighty-two thousand six hundred and sixty dollars and fifty-seven cents, (182,660.57)..."
