Former Confederate officer's Autograph Letter Signed by Major George H. Morton, 22nd Tennessee Cavalry, 1pp. octavo, Bellevue, Tennessee, December 7, 1866, addressed to Mr. E.D. Hicks, and reads "Mr. Cullim says that he can take the oath at any time..." with "Official Business" cover addressed to Hicks at Nashville. Fine condition. George H. Morton enlisted under Capt. McNary of the First Battalion Tennessee Cavalry, Confederate States Army. By his faithful and efficient service he was raised from a private to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. He was wounded six times during the war, and afterward worked to bring former Confederate soldiers back into the Union.
