Includes, May 23, 1862, 4 column front page map "FARRAGUTS NAVAL OOPERATION ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER," shows cotton plantations owned by Gen. Dunlap, Col. Dorgliss, Col. Demers, and others.[Note newspaper is incomplete, only four pages present] ... plus May 25, 1863, Front page announcement, "VICKSBURG. An Official Announcement to the President that Vicksburg Has Fallen." Of course the report is premature, as Vicksburg falls July 4th. VG ... plus, July 19, "Valour of the Negro Troops in Arkansas" ... "The negro troops stripped of everything except pants and fought with great courage" [likely reference to the 1st REGIMENT INFANTRY-AFRICAN DESCENT. VG
