War-date Union soldier's Autograph Letter Signed by Charles William Personius, 50th New York Engineers, Camp Leslie, October 11, 1862, and reads in part: "...Yesterday we were all inspected over again and I guess that none of the boys were thrown out if there had been any that were not fit for field service they would have been detached for hospital guards...." Fine condition...plus; ALS by Charles Personius, on fine United States Capitol stationary, October 14, 1862, and reads in part: "...there is an onward movement of the Grand Army of the Potomac towards centerville, Manassas and Richmond. I hope there will be no more Bull Run affairs, our troops move carefully. We expect to move every day...there has been some talk of our going to Cape Hatteras..." Fine condition...plus; ALS by Charles Personius, 2pp. folio, October 18, 1862, and reads in part: "...Yesterday the officer of the day arrested two of Co. D boys for being drunk and quarrelsome. He marched them to the guard house put them in and told them to fight it out. he ordered them to pull off their coats and go in so they did. They clinched each other in the hair tore one anothers clothes and cuffed each other about until one of them thought he had enough of it and gave up. They were so drunk that they could not hurt each other very badly..." Fine condition.
