War-date Union soldier's Autograph Letter Signed by Marshal P. Woods, 9th New Hampshire Infantry, 5pp. octavo, Leesboro, September 7, 1862, and reads in part: "...I expect we are going to join Burnsides Division. I expect we shall be marching about now all the time. You must not think strange to hear that we have been in a battle any day...I saw Thomas...He said also that John Reynolds [6th NH Infantry] was shot through the stomach and was dead. And [Cyrus] Clapp [6th NH Infy] was shot through the head. ...There is six of us camp together and I think there is not a happier set of boys in the whole Regt. than we are..." Fine condition.
