War-date Union soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed by Marshal P. Woods, 9th New Hampshire Infantry, 8pp. octavo, Pleasant Valley, Maryland, October 25, 1862, and reads in part: “...There are two fellows from Stoddard and one of them is a married man and has buried three children since he came out here. They died about the time we was at the grove...They all died in one week I believe...We have to drill every other day at nine o’clock am and about four pm...We have a meeting every Sunday but I do not like the style very well of our chaplains presenttion and there is not many that do like him...” Fine condition.
