War-date Union soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed by Marshal P. Woods, 9th New Hampshire Infantry, 4pp. octavo, Camp near Knoxville, Maryland, October 29, 1862, and reads in part: “...I think we shall see some more fighting before many days. We are in Virginia but our camp ground is near Knoxville, Md. We crossed the Potomac on a pontoon bridge, it was where the rebels burnt the bridge some time ago. It was over a quarter of a mile across. ...” Fine condition.
