COBURN, Abner (1803-1885) was the 30th Governor of Maine from 1863 to 1864 and a prominent individual in Skowhegan, Maine until his death. War-date Autograph Letter Signed "A. Coburn" 2pp. octavo, on State of Maine Executive Department lettersheet, April 7, 1863, addressed to Vice President Hannibal Hamlin, and reads in part: "...The bond business stands about as it did when last I saw you. I can send you any day a $5,000 price that will cover the whole amt if that will answer your tune as well or if you will wait till I go home I will arrange with our bank for enough to make up the $5,000 in small . I am very glad to hear so good report his morning per Connecticut election. It evidently shows a very decided reaction from last Fall, and the ease in which Public Meetings are now got up in this state shows more unity and zeal in the cause than I have seen for some time..." Very good condition.
