Partly-printed Document Signed, "G. S. Palmer" Surgeon U.S. Vols. in Charge, 1p. issued from "Lincoln General Hospital" Washington, D.C., 1863, and reads "I hereby certify that Corpl. Jno. M. Hilbert Co. L 4 Regt Pa Cavalry was not mustered in this Hospital on rolls of March and April 1863..." Fine. John M. Hilbert enlisted as a corporal in the 4th Pennsylvania Cavalry in November 1861, he was taken prisoner and would later serve time in the "Lincoln General Hospital."
