A highly detailed and very technical war-date artillery trajectory map penned by Medal of Honor recipient Joseph Follet, commander of Battery 'G', 1st Missouri Light Artillery, and illustrated by him while in command of Fort Sheridan. This map details various cannon sight angles of targeted sections of Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain, with distance for cannon shot from Fort Wood, Fort Sheridan and Fort Cheatam. The map is 8"x10", with multiple calculations and strategic points highlighted. Joseph Follet (1843-1907) enlisted as a private in Company G, 1st Missouri Infantry in September 1861. He served from through the entire war, being twice wounded in action [at Farmington, Miss. 5/9/62 & New Madrid, Missouri 3/2/62], serving under Generals Sherman, Pope, King and Steedman, and as a nineteen year old he was awarded the Medal of Honor at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, on October 8, 1862, after charging a battery. His citation reads "At New Madrid, MO., remained on duty though severely wounded. While procuring ammunition from the supply train at Stone River, Tenn., Follett was captured, but made his escape, secured the ammunition, and in less than an hour from the time of his capture had the batteries supplied." He later had extensive service during the Indian Wars era.
