Small archive of ten (10) papers pertaining to the wounding of Frank Schult, 44th New York Infantry at Gettysburg, mostly 1864-65 dealing with his pension, and includes a history of his military career, which reads in part: "...he received a commission duly appointed and commissioning him a captain the 44th Regiment of New York Volunteers...placed in command of Co. 'G' of said regiment and that he retained the command of said co. until his discharge from the service of the United States...and at the battle of Gettysburg in the State of Pennsylvania on the 2nd day of July 1863 received the following described wounding: A musket ball struck and carried away the little finger of his left hand very near to when it joins the hand and also struck and carried away the little finger and the finger next to the same from his right hand and tearing the inside of his right hand somewhat lodged in his right arm between his elbow and shoulder..." Most fine condition.
