Rare war-date Civil War unit history entitled: "A Reminiscence of the First Battle of Manassas: A Camp-Fire Story of the Seventy-First Regiment, N. G. S. N. Y." 58 pages by William Duff Telfer, published in 1864 by John Strange, London. "A volunteer in the ranks during…the first term of its service…". Set to poetic prose Telfer tells his story of his regiment's valiant role in the battle of 1st Bull Run. Ex-Commandery of the State of Illinois Mollus collection with their bookplate affixed to front inside cover. Original red wine binding with very some wear, discoloration and bumping. Nice tight spine, else VG.
