War-date Union imprint being General Orders No. 20, issued from the Headquarters of the District of Florida, Jacksonville, April 4, 1864, 1pp. octavo, by order of Brig General Hatch, and reads in part: "...The Comd'g officer of the Post at Jacksonville, will take measures to secure, and turn over to the Depot Quartermaster, all private boats in the town, and its immediate vicinity, which do not belong to authorized trading vessels...All citizens visiting the town of Jacksonville to trade, will be required to show their passes to the guard at the wharf, and if unprovided with passes, will be sent to the local Provost Marshal...A pass allowing a citizen to trade in town, is not authority to visit any other than Bay Street, and nay person holding such pass, found in any other part of the town, or loitering, after finishing the business for which he has ostensibly entered the lines, will be subject to arrest as a spy..." Fine condition.
