HARRISON, William Henry (1773-1841) 9th President of the United States. Governor of Indiana Territory from 1800-1812, Major General of the War of 1812, U.S. Congressman from 1816-1819, U.S. Senator from 1825-1828. He defeated Martin Van Buren for election in 1840, and died after only a month in office. Document Signed "William Henry Harrison," December 17, 1811, as Governor of Indiana Territory, 10" x 16," clean horizontal split not affecting any text. In part, "An Act Respecting the General Fund" a joint resolution transferring monies to the general fund. Two fascinating points. First, rarely does Harrison sign his FULL name. Second, this is only five weeks following the Battle of Tippecanoe where Governor William Henry Harrison's forces defeated Tecumseh's Indian confederation led by his younger brother Tenskwatawa. It was this battle that brought Harrison to national attention and the origin of the his presidential campaign slogan, Tippecanoe and Tyler Too.
