Book, THE WHITE HOUSE GALLERY OF THE OFFICIAL PORTRAITS OF THE PRESIDENTS, 100 pp., large folio, 15 1/2" x 20", 1907, published by the Washington Post and printed by the Gravure Company, New York and Washington. An elaborate limited and numbered edition, this grand book has a presentation plate on the title page noting that the copy belonged to W.M. Taliaferro. A full-page portrait of each president from George Washington to Teddy Roosevelt is protected by a tissue overlay and faces a one page biography. The leather front cover boasts a huge 9" diameter Presidential Seal that is deeply embossed and heavily stamped with gold foil. The back cover is missing and the whole production has experienced some stains, including foxing on the overlays. Good .
