NIXON, Richard M. (1913 - 1994) Thirty-seventh President of the United States who led during the Vietnam War, re-opened diplomatic ties with China and the U.S.S.R.. Under Nixon the legal voting age was dropped from 21 to 18 with the ratification of the 26th Amendment. He resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal. FORD, Gerald (b. 1913) Thirty-eighth President 1974-77, distinguished Member of the House 1949-73, appointed Vice President following the resignation of Spiro Agnew, and became President in August, 1974 following President Nixon's resignation. Signed Photo, 10" x 8," of Nixon and Ford conferring in the Oval Office. Signed in the margin "Richard Nixon" and "Gerald Ford, Oct, 1973." On October 10, 1973, Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned the office of Vice President, after being formally charged with having accepted bribes totaling more than $100,000. On October 13, 1973, Nixon nominated Ford to be Vice President.
