Newspaper, Harper's Weekly, New York, 16pp., complete issue, disbound, July 25, 1874, VG. An interior vertical engraving, "International Baseball - The Philadelphia Athletics ..." shows the starting nine, all in uniform, taken from the photograph by Scudders & Fennemore. Adrian Constantine Anson (1852-1922), nicknamed "Cap" (for "Captain") and "Pop", was a National Association and Major League Baseball first baseman. He played a record 27 consecutive seasons, and was regarded as one of the greatest players of his era and one of the first superstars of the game.
