Newspaper Group of three single sheet issues of the Compiler, Richmond, January 4th, 5th, and 7th, 1822, disbound [actually bind together on the right side, now separated], VG. Simply stated, these issues are packed with slave related advertisements. From the January 4th issue, there are 13 slave related advertisments to include “We wish to hire 10 to 15 Negro Boys to a Tobacco Factory ...,” “Wanted to purchase a good female cook ...,” “Negroes Private sale, about thirty belonging to the estate of Charles Whinlock ...,” “Auction Sale of Negroes ...,” “40 to 50 Negroes Wanted to hire to work at Teabues’ coal mines ...,” .... The issue of the 5th also has 13 slave related advertisments; and the issue of the 7th has 14 slave related advertisments.
