A grouping of three authentic and complete New Orleans newspapers, each 4pp., disbound and displaying illustrated slaves ads. To include, The Southerner, New Orleans, May 11, 1847, interior page shows illustrated runaway reward ad Ben. Reward is $15. There are other slaves ads that are not illustrated. Separated at the spine, else near fine.... plus, The Daily Delta, New Orleans, April 15, 1852, front page shows Male & Female illustrated slaves used to promote the sale ofd slaves. Also, an illustrated runaway ad. The interior pages have an additinal two illustrated runaway ads....plus, The New OrleansDaily Crescent, May 17, 1853. Eight illustrated ads, each under the title “Brought to the First District Police.” Each ad lists name and description of 1 to 4 slaves. Several use the term “griffe” to describe the slave. This seldom seen word means 1/2 mulatto and 1/2 black. Additionally there are to illustrated runaway ads.
