Eleven (11) items belonging to Private Marquis Peterson, Co. "F," to include: Pine box with incuse stamp on the lid giving its owner's name and regiment; a CDV showing a back civilian identified as "Marcus Peterson" on the back; a brass medal with hanger reading "55 M.V.I. A Volunteer for Freedom"; a GAR membership medal; a pierced aluminum medallion, 35mm, for the 24th GAR Encampment; a GAR celluloid disc; a gilt Massachusetts GAR watch chain and fob; an oval aluminum token for the Sanitary dairy of Barnesville, Ohio; a piece of brick from Fort Sumter within a cotton bag labeled as such; a small hardbound "Pocket Companion" distributed by the American Baptist Publication Society; a straight razor with incised initials "MP." The CDV has scratches that do not detract from the portrait's overall presentation. Private Patterson, a free resident of Ohio, enlisted on June 15, 1863 along with three brothers in a regiment organized once the famed 54th Massachusetts reached full capacity.
