From the front page is a full page engraving by Winslow Homer “The Seceding Mississippi Delegation in Congress - Photographed by Brady.” They include an august group; Reuben Davis, (future Confederate General). Lucius Q.C. Lamar, (funded out of his own pocket, the 19th Mississippi Volunteer Infantry), Jefferson Davis (President of the CSA), Albert G. Brown, (Confederate States Senator), William Barksdale, (hard fighting CS General), Otho R. Singleton, (Confederate States Representative), John J. McRae, (Confederate States Representative). From the interior is presented biographies of each.
