Group of three 1861 issues of the Vanity Fair, New York, each 8-1/2” x 11-1/2,” 10 pages, disbound. These weekly illustrated newspapers have very strong political graphics. The group includes October 26th, with front page engraving, “School of the CSA,” shows President Jefferson Davis disciplining Henry Wise and Johnny Floyd. War news and several other graphics on the inside. ...plus, December 7th issue with front page engraving “Blow For Blow,” shows Jefferson Davis blowing bubbles of ‘Power’ and ‘Glory’ as Lady Liberty pops each bubble. In the background is a Black mammy tending to a child. ... plus, December 21st issue, shows Jefferson Davis fishing from the dock, “No Go!” The fish of England and France are not biting at Davis’ Cotton bait.
