A complete and authentic issue of The Weekly Reporter, Henderson, Kentucky, January 14, 1864,. The issue has been professionally silked. This is a very scarce title. Kentucky was a neautral border state where openly supporting the Confederacy could cause one to be arrested. This newspaper was subtly a Confederate supporter. From the interior a 12” report “Terrible Sufferings of the Soldiers and Confederate Prisoners in the Camps Near Chicago.” A brief report claims “ a small party of negro cavalry went to the residence of Mr. Willard .. forcibly took from the paternal fireside his two daughters ....” Also, President Lincoln signs a Bounty Resolution.
