A good Gettysburg related military order, 1p. 4to. issued and signed ORRIS S. FERRY (1823-1875), as Brigadier General "Head Quarters U. S. Forces, Gettysburg, [Pa.], August 22, 1863", being General Orders No. 1 in which he announcing his assuming command of the US forces at Gettysburg, in part: "Pursuant to orders from Major Genl. Couch, Comdg. Dept. of the Susquehanna, the undersigned here by assumes command of the troops in and around Gettysburg. Lieutenants Henry L. Johnson and George C. Ripley are announced as aides-de-camp, and will be obeyed and respected accordingly…". Fine.
