A great Civil War era CDV of one of the most popular images of famed Army of Northern Virginia commander Robert E. Lee. The studio of Minnis and Cowell, Richmond took the original image in 1863 while Lee stood in the studio wearing his spurs, field glasses and ornate presentation sword. The editors of the London News thought so much of this image that they used it on the front cover of their newspaper on June 4, 1864. Fine.
