Wonderful G.A.R parade photograph, with "G.A.R. Encampment Boston Aug. 12 1890" imprint in the negative. The albumen image measures 7 3/4" x 9 1/4", and 11" x 13 3/4" overall. Some light water marks to the lower mount, not effecting the albumen, overall fine. Probably one of the best G.A.R. parade photographs to appear on the market in sometime. The marchers are wearing slouch hats, tri-corn revolutionary style hats, ribbons, medals, etc. Flags adorn the buildings on the street. What makes this a special image is the two banners hanging, one being Massachusetts Governor John Andrews, and the other being Union General U.S. Grant. The banners are bold and prominent. There is also another banner that reads "They Spoke Plain The Word Country" in the back ground. A superb image that would look great matted and framed.
