Abraham Lincoln 1864 Presidential Campaign Letter, 4 pp., November 9, 1864, with original transmittal cover, fine. From an archive of letters from Pvt. Herbert Daniels, 7th Rhode Island Infantry, to his sweet heart in Worcester, Ma., in part: "The Regt. has gone out to a Brigade drill now & I hope they will let me write a few minutes in peace. I would have written yesterday if I had had this to answer, but we were very busy with the election"...."The vote in the 7th including the 4th was 152 for Lincoln & 28 for McClellan....". Daniels was obviously a "poll taker" and was most probably in charge of gathering and reporting the soldiers vote in the regiment. A fine campaign letter.
