Hand painted, two piece snuff box, 3-1/4” diameter x 1-1/2” tall, overall gold paint. The lid decoration is that of a British soldier in uniform wooing a seated fair maiden. There is a note “18th Century Snuff Box with snuff from Browsholme Hallthe gift of Colonel Parker.” There is minor damage to the piece, a 1” weak area with gold paint lifting in that area. Browsholme Hall, built in the early 1500’s, is a privately owned Elizabethan house in the parish of Bowland Forest Low in the borough of Ribble Valley, Lancashire, England. Colonel Parker owned the Hall in the later 1800’s.
