A great ca. 1860 finely tooled leather envelope box, triangle shape, embossed with flowers, vines and the word: "Envelopes" stamped into the leather. The inside of the case is subdivided five graduated compartments to accommodate various envelope sizes. A small remnant of the original seller's label of "W. Stoughton, Stationer…Bond St." is pasted to the inside of the lid. The lid also bears a great ink presentation, reading, in full: "from the Honorable Wm. Norton, June 1868." Original key is missing and there are no breaks at the lid's spine, else VG. A great addition to a letter collector's collection.
