Bound Volume, The Evening Bulletin, San Francisco, from January 2, 1868 through December 31, 1868, a total of 310 issues, each 4pp. Binding is tight, newspapers are VG. Each issue carries local, state and national news. On cursory view, the newspaper closely followed and reported upon the Johnson Impeachment. Grant’s first election is covered in detail. The Washita River massacre is reprted noting the battle led by Custer and Chief Black Kettle killed. The 14th amendment is covered, the Southern resistance to carpet baggers, western outlaws, lynchings .... just an extraaordinary glimpse into 1868. Please note, this volume is heavy and will cost a minimum of $35 to ship.
