Paperboard box, 7” in diameter and 2” high, constructed of paperboard and covered with green printed label. The cover engraving of George Washington dressed in distinctive Masonic apron and sash, is surrounded by printed text: “Washington Manufacturing Co., Troy, N.Y. / GENT’S PAT. COMBINATION AND / CLOTH LINED COLLARS.” Below the engraving of Washington is the title: “Father of our Country. / Economy the Highway to We(alth).” The last few letters of this sentence are cut off but the word is still obvious. There is also a red sticker stretching across the side of the box describing the contents: “100 Gent’s Pat. Combination Shirt Collars, Style A, S.E. Garotte. Size 14 1/2 inches.” On the inside of the lid is some writing in pencil which reads, “bbn/ bbn. Hund/ Sell 2e.” The entire box shows moderate aging but is still a beautiful piece. VG.
